Wedding websites for York weddings

York is the closest thing Maine has to a Boston-commutable wedding. Your website should be built around that, not around a template that has never heard of this town.

Getting married in York

York is the first real stop after the New Hampshire line, which makes it the shortest drive of any coastal Maine wedding for guests coming from Boston or further south. If a good share of your list is in Massachusetts, that hour and ten minutes is worth advertising — plenty of them will drive up and back the same day rather than book a room.

That single fact should shape your whole website. You are writing for two very different groups: day-trippers who need a departure time and a parking plan, and weekend guests who need lodging. Say clearly which is realistic.

The other thing York gives you is Nubble Light, which is one of the most recognisable lighthouses in the country and about as good a backdrop as exists in this state. It is also small, public and busy in summer, which is worth knowing before anyone plans photos there.

What your York guests will ask

Answer these once on your website and you stop answering them one text at a time.

🚗

Can guests drive up and back?

From Boston, comfortably. Say so on the site and give a suggested departure time — it saves people the cost of a room they did not need.

🗼

Nubble Light

The postcard shot, and a public park with limited parking. If photos are planned there, go early and expect company in summer.

🏖️

Long Sands or Short Sands?

Two very different beaches with different parking. Guests with kids usually want Short Sands and the arcade end of town.

✈️

Which airport?

Logan is genuinely the better call for York, unlike most of Maine. Worth putting in writing so guests do not default to Portland.

🅿️

Beach parking

Metered and busy in season. Guests should know before they circle for twenty minutes.

🛏️

Where to stay

York, York Beach and Kittery all work, and Portsmouth in New Hampshire is fifteen minutes away with more rooms.

Getting to York

Portland Jetport (PWM) is about 50 minutes north; Boston Logan is closer. From Boston, about 1 hour 10 minutes.

York wedding questions

Which airport should guests use for a York wedding?
Boston Logan. It is closer than Portland for York and usually cheaper to fly into.
How far is York from Boston?
About an hour and ten minutes, traffic permitting. It is the shortest drive of any coastal Maine wedding town.
Can we take photos at Nubble Light?
It is a public park, so yes, but it is small and gets busy in season. Early morning is the realistic window in summer.
Is Portsmouth an option for guests?
Yes, and a good one. It is about fifteen minutes away with more hotel rooms and a lot to do.
