There are really only two kinds of choice here

The wedding-website market looks crowded, but almost everything in it is one of two things.

**Self-serve builders** — The Knot, Zola, Joy, Minted, Canva, Squarespace and the rest. You get an editor and you build the site. Most have a free tier. They differ in how they look, how much they let you customise, and what else they bundle, but the model is identical: the work is yours.

**Done-for-you services** — you send your details and somebody builds it. Costs money because it is labour. The model is what you are buying, not the software.

So the real question is not which builder is best. It is whether you want to build one at all.

Use a free self-serve builder. Genuinely. If budget is the constraint, do not pay anybody — including us — for a wedding website.

Use one of the big bundled platforms. One login for registry, website and guest list is a real convenience we do not offer.

A general website builder gives you the most freedom, if you are willing to learn it.

Whatever you choose, budget real effort for travel, lodging and directions. It is the part guests use most and the part every template handles worst.

If the date is close and nothing is built, done-for-you is usually the faster route — not because the tools are slow, but because finding the time is.

What we are not going to do

We are not going to publish a table where we come out on top of every row. We sell one of the options on this page, so a scorecard from us would be worthless to you.

What we will say is the honest version: most couples should use a free builder, and the ones who should pay us are the ones for whom "most couples should just build it" has not worked for the last two months.

Are free wedding websites any good?
Yes. The free tiers from the major platforms are capable and look fine. If you have the time and the inclination, use one.
Why would anyone pay for a wedding website?
For the same reason people pay for anything they could do themselves — time, and getting it finished. Not for better software.
Do we need a custom domain?
No. It is a nice touch, not a requirement. Most guests reach the site from a link you send them, not by typing an address.
What matters most in a wedding website?
That guests can find the schedule, the directions and the RSVP in under ten seconds on a phone. Nearly everything else is decoration.
