Wedding websites for Kennebunkport weddings

Kennebunkport is a classic southern-coast summer wedding, and a booking race. Your website should be built around that, not around a template that has never heard of this town.

Getting married in Kennebunkport

Kennebunkport is one of the most-photographed wedding towns in Maine, and the reason it works against you is the same reason it works for you: everybody else wants to be there in July too.

The practical consequence is that lodging is the hardest part of a Kennebunkport wedding, not the wedding. Rooms in and around Dock Square get booked a year ahead for peak summer weekends, and guests who wait until the invitation arrives are often looking at Biddeford or Wells instead. That is fine — it is fifteen or twenty minutes — but they need to be told, early, in writing.

The rest of it is close to effortless. It is an hour and a half from Boston, half an hour from the Jetport, and there is enough to do in walking distance that guests will happily make a weekend of it without you planning a thing.

What your Kennebunkport guests will ask

Answer these once on your website and you stop answering them one text at a time.

How early do we need to book?

For a July or August Saturday, as early as you can. This is the number one thing to put on your website the day it goes live, not in the invitation.

🚙

What if Dock Square is full?

Wells, Biddeford, Saco and Ogunquit are all fifteen to twenty-five minutes out and usually have rooms when Kennebunkport does not. List them with drive times.

🅿️

Parking in summer

Dock Square parking in August is genuinely difficult. Tell guests where the lots are and how long the walk is.

🏖️

Which beach?

Goose Rocks, Gooch's and Colony are all different experiences and have different parking rules. Guests with kids will want to know before they arrive.

🚦

Route 1 in summer

The drive up from Boston on a Friday in August takes considerably longer than the map says. Pad every arrival time you publish.

🌊

What is there to do?

Walking Dock Square, the beaches, boat trips and Ocean Avenue fill a weekend on their own. Guests rarely need help here, but a short list still gets read.

Getting to Kennebunkport

Portland Jetport (PWM) is about 35 minutes north. From Boston, about 1 hour 35 minutes.

Kennebunkport wedding questions

How far is Kennebunkport from Boston?
About an hour and thirty-five minutes without traffic. Summer Fridays and holiday weekends run considerably longer.
When should guests book lodging?
For peak summer, as soon as they know they are coming. Rooms near Dock Square go a year out for prime Saturdays.
What if guests cannot find a room in Kennebunkport?
Wells, Ogunquit, Biddeford and Saco are all a short drive and usually have availability. Put those on your site with drive times so guests do not panic.
Is Kennebunkport worth it in the off season?
Late September and October are lovely, cheaper and far less crowded. The trade-off is that some seasonal businesses start closing after Columbus Day.
