Portland is the one Maine wedding where your guests can genuinely manage without a car. They can fly into the Jetport, be at a downtown hotel in fifteen minutes, and walk to the rehearsal dinner. Nothing else in this state gives you that.

Which changes what your website needs to do. You are not writing rescue directions down a dirt road. You are answering a different set of questions: which part of town to book, whether to bother with a rental car, where to park if they drive, and what to do with a free Friday in a city with more good restaurants per capita than almost anywhere in the country.

Portland Jetport (PWM) is about 10 minutes from downtown. From Boston, about 2 hours up I-95.

Is Portland a good place for guests coming from out of state?
It is the easiest option in Maine. Direct flights into PWM, hotels within walking distance of most downtown venues, and no rental car needed for a lot of guests.
How far is Portland from Boston?
About two hours up I-95 in normal traffic. Plan for longer on a Friday afternoon in summer or during foliage season.
When is the busiest time to get married in Portland?
July through early October. It is beautiful and it is also when hotel rates peak and rooms sell out earliest.
Do we need a shuttle?
Often not, if your venue and hotel block are both on the peninsula. If your venue is out toward Cape Elizabeth or Falmouth, yes — and put the pickup time on the site.
